MLK Keynote Address – Voting: The Heart of Democracy!

January 20 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

MLK Keynote flyer

Cathedral of the Pines Foundation and the Jaffrey Rindge MLK committee bring you an exciting two-days of events in celebration of MLK Day!

Once again, we will be participating in the National Bell-Ringing Ceremony on his birthday January 20 at 2:00pm with the ringing of the bells in the Women’s Memorial Bell Tower at Cathedral of the Pines. This tradition was inspired by Coretta Scott King, and our eleventh local celebration commences this year in concert with the ringing of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia as a symbol of freedom and justice in both Jaffrey and Rindge.

Followed by a powerful keynote address inside the Hilltop House by Nicholas Stephanopoulos, Harvard Law School.

This event will commemorate the 60-year anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, sweeping legislation intended to eliminate racial discrimination in voter registration and balloting. There will be a meet-the-professor reception following the presentation.  Light refreshments will be served

This is a NO CHARGE event; donations are gratefully encouraged.          Please register in advance to save your seat!  https://www.cathedralofthepines.org/register/
